Zagato sold to Spyker owner

Image
Does having Zagato, Spyker and Bowler Off Road under one roof mean new vehicles are coming? Details inside. Coventry Prototype Panels, has snapped up Milan-based auto design firm Zagato. CPP, owned by Vladimir Antonov , has added the distressed Italian company to a portfolio that includes Spyker and Bowler Off Road . The move could help CPP cut costs in the long run. CPP works closely with Aston Martin, as does Zagato, and the two have worked together in the past on the Bentley GTZ and the Ferrari GTZ . Meanwhile Spyker and the Italians previously joined forces on the C12 Zagato . Antonov was also a supporter of Swedish Cars CEO Victor Muller's bid to takeover Saab, and still has interest in investing in the Swedish automaker despite being previously blocked from direct involvement. Antonov has already bought a significant amount of real estate from the financially troubled Saab . With the Spyker brand name, Zagato's design skill, Bowler's off road and raci...

Honda CR-Z (2011) long-term test review

Image
Honda CR-Z hello – 8 July 2011 Much excitement at the Honda’s arrival – almost enough to compensate for the sad loss of the Infiniti. Initial impressions are very good indeed. I love this car’s strikingly modern style. It looks just the way a very sophisticated 21st century hybrid vehicle should – sharky, edgy and engagingly proportioned. I’m glad I went for the Premium White Pearl paintwork. It complements the car’s silver detailing and gunmetal grey Electra alloys beautifully, imbuing the car with a clean, monochromatic look. There’s nothing special about the cabin plastics, but the busy instrumentation binnacle flanked by pods for the climate and audio controls, as well as the engine’s Econ, Sport and Norm settings, is perfectly in keeping with the car’s high-tech nature. The horribly antiquated and aftermarket-looking audio and sat-nav system is not. In typical Honda style, the whole structure feels incredibly well put together. The rear seats are a j...

Audi Q3 2.0 TDI Quattro (2011) CAR review

Image
This is the new Audi Q3, Ingolstadt’s rival for the BMW X1 and the forthcoming Range Rover Evoque. It’s the smallest Q-series 4x4 yet from Audi, and (at least initially) is only available with a selection of 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged and direct-injection engines. Items like an aluminium bonnet and aluminium bootlid are 50% lighter than the conventional steel items, there are big car options like 3D sat-nav complete with Google Earth tech, and let’s not forget the appeal of that four-ringed badge. The Q3 is already guaranteed to be a sales success for Audi, but is it any good? Read on for CAR’s first drive review of the new Audi Q3. Ah, I seem to remember an Audi concept car that looks like the Q3… That’ll be the Cross Coupe Quattro, unveiled way back in 2007; despite the huge array of new models that Audi has produced over the past few years, it’s actually taken a surprisingly long time for that small concept car to become a production reali...
